Outside Temp: 49 F (there was a threat of the little white flakes, but nothing came of it... I'm not worried... it will get here sooner or later... please be after Friday...)
What I cooked today:
Burgers and Mashed Potatoes: I was going to ditch the family for a second night in a row, so I felt a little guilty. I whipped up a quick dinner before I left. The kids were thrilled!

Busy day!
I worked at the post office for about an hour this morning, then I ran over to Geyser and got my studded snow tires on the yellow car. With our first snow a few weeks ago, I realized how much I missed my studded snow tires. Fortunately, we had the tires on their own set of rims, so it only took a few minutes to pop off the old tires and pop on the new ones. Of course, the totally awesome guys at Geyser Merc did this for us! Thanks Guys!!
At school, I had my students finish an entire week's assignment in 2-3 days. They had finished last week's assignment by Thursday, so I had them start on this week's assignment last Friday. They all finished up today, and took their quizzes, so they will have a 'study hall' for the next 3 days. But most importantly, I didn't need to have any one else try to teach the class while I was gone. I got yelled at last time, so I wasn't about to do that again!
Then, this evening, I had another awesome night, this time with the women from Geyser. There was the most delicious food, and then we had a hysterical fun of the Chinese gift exchange. I started out with a really cute Christmas candle stand. But then I was able to steal this awesome Rachel Ray mixing bowl. But the bowl got stolen, so then I had something else. But then I got to steal, so I got the bowl back. But it got stolen from me, and I got my own bottle of wine. Which was stolen, and I got a pillow and towels. Then I got to steal, so I went for this pretty necklace, which was stolen and I got some good smelling lotions. Then I had to steal again, so I went back for the bowl. This went on and on for about 15-20 minutes, until the last minute, when I rolled doubles and stole back my bowl. And the buzzer went off. Woo hoo!
I can't even express how lucky I am to be included in this community with such wonderful people. Such a great night!

Outside Temp: 40 F (nice and clear today!)
What I cooked today:
Burgers and Macs & Cheese: I almost went with chili, but Allen begged and pleaded. So, I relented and went with macs and cheese... He was in heaven!
Update:
Happy Halloween!
First off, I absolutely hate this day. I'm not sure if I was tortured as a child, or what is wrong with me, but I hate Halloween. I think I never had a 'cool' costume.
Anyway, the kids had a great day. The school had a Halloween carnival, where they had games and prizes and lots and lots of candy. The middle school students ran all the games for the K-6th graders. We brought Ryan back to the school for the carnival, which worked out great because he loved it!
I left Patrick in the multipurpose room to take pictures of the kids, while I went to my web design class. This was a mistake, as I ended up with exactly one picture of Allen. Every other picture was either blurry or from the back. Next time, I'll make sure to take pictures myself!
This evening, after Allen's basketball practice, we went around Geyser and went trick or treating. Ryan was exhausted from the carnival, so he decided to stay home and sleep. Katie, Connor, Allen and I drove around town, stopping at places we knew to chat with friends (and, of course, score some candy). We had such a great time! Everyone was so generous (especially the Geyser Mercantile, which gave the kids a stuffed animal AND a full can of soda! You're awesome!)!
And now, I can be grateful that Halloween is over and I don't have to deal with it for another year. All of our Halloween costumes, makeup, masks, and bags are in a plastic bin and put away. Woo hoo!

Outside Temp: 31 F (it was warmer today, in the high 30's at least. )
What I cooked today:
Burgers and Tater Tots: I didn't have much time when we got home, so I went with burgers. I told Allen I was being lazy. He laughed and said, "If this is lazy, please be lazy more often!".
Update:
Busy day!
We started the day with a basketball game in Stanford. Because the team played so hard in Roy yesterday, the coach decided to let some of the 'non-starters' start, and play more. We have already played against Denton, and I guess the coach thought that we would do okay.
So, Allen got to start! In fact, he got to play the entire first quarter! I think it was a little hard for him to get used to playing constantly. He is usually just put in for a few minutes, as relief for the starters. This time, he played a lot!
By the 4th quarter, he was starting to get into his grove. Not only did he make a basket, but I caught it on the camera! Woo hoo! The team was winning by quite a lot at this point, but everyone in the stands knew that making baskets during a game was a pretty cool thing for Allen. When he made his shot, the crowds yelled for him! He was on cloud 9!
After the game, we came back home for church. Then, it was a few hours of relaxing before heading in to Geyser for the Haunted House!
The Geyser Mercantile puts on a haunted house for Halloween. They had a 'not as scary' time from 6-7, where the 'zombies' and 'ghouls' would not work too hard to scare anyone. We went through with all the kids first. Ryan was a little scared, but in a way, I think he really liked it. He would scream, then hide behind either Patrick or me, and then push us forward.
At one point, we took him aside and asked if he was really scared, if he wanted to leave. No way! He wanted to keep going!
By the time we finished, we thought he'd be done. Nope. "Let's go again!" was all he could say! We let him go back through again during the 'not so scary' part, and by then, he was pretty comfortable with it. Then we all went back through when it got a little more scary. The 'zombies' and 'ghouls' would moan and scream and make it more intense. I wasn't sure how he would take it, but Ryan did just fine! In fact, he went up to one of the 'ghouls' (who we knew by this point) and asked for 'fist bumps'. It kind of hysterical. I couldn't stop laughing!

Outside Temp: 49 F (it was in the high 70's in Great Falls today, but overcast and showers in Raynesford and Geyser. I love the weather here!)
What I cooked today:
Tater Tots: I know, I know, but we left the kids to their own devices for dinner, while we headed out to the party. They still wanted more food once we got back. So, I baked up some tater tots. After all, everyone LOVES tater tots!
Update:
Ryan had clinic in Great Falls today.
They are drawing his labs from his arm, rather than his line. It's safer, since we're not accessing the line, but it's harder on him, since they actually have to poke him. In this case, we had quarterly labs, which includes a ton of tests; copper, selenium, etc. It turned out that they needed 11 tubes of blood. Oh my, 11 tubes is a lot!
They poked him on the right side first, and once they got the needle in, he calmed down. They were able to get 7 tubes off that site before the line blew. They then stuck him on the left side, and got the other 4 tubes. He's really funny about it, because the anticipation is terrifying. He flinches like crazy and really doesn't want to sit still. But, as soon as the needle is in, he stops and can watch. Even if they have to move around the needle to get good access.
After labs, we went to clinic. He was 57.6 lbs and 47 1/2 inches. That's amazing for him! He only gained .6 lbs in the last 2 months, but since we've decreased his TPN, that's actually good. Amazingly, he gained about 1 1/2 inches! That is amazing! His doctor was really happy with his height gain. It might mean that his intestines are working better. We are going to decrease the time on his TPN from 12 hours to 10, which will be totally awesome once he starts school. And we're going to work on Pediasure, to give him some extra nutrition. All in all, an awesome clinic visit.
After clinic (and some grocery shopping), we went into Geyser for a Customer Appreciation Party at the Geyser Mercantile. So much fun to spend time with the community! I really like the Merc, not only because the guys are so helpful and friendly, but they also have really great prices. And I don't have to go all the way into Great Falls for things! So, tonight, they fed us some awesome meats; sausages, hamburgers, jerky and bacon. Add to that some beans and watermelon. And, of course, some cookies. How can you go wrong? And an added bonus was chatting with people! Since school is out, I don't get to see everyone as much. This was a great way to keep in touch!
